There are many tapas bars there and wonderful seafood and paella restaurants all along the seafront and marina area.

Snorkelling, cycling, horse-riding, bird-watching and hiking are all popular in the area which is busiest in July and August but populated all year round by Spanish, English and people of other nationalities. The Almeria coast is a popular destination because even in the coldest months of the year (January and February) the temperature is usually between 15 and 20 degrees and sometimes higher.

Vera is well-connected by motorways and also by public buses, coaches and a shuttle service to Almeria, Murcia and Alicante airports and the rest of Spain. This unspoilt part of Andalusia is the real Spain and has been featured on a Place in the Sun several times.
